Hello Miss M speaking

We had some fun and entertaining training today. Turns out that our telephone systems are changing over to some new fancy schmacy handsets and us Production staff need to learn how to use them in order to teach the rest of our teams.

I am not relishing that moment I might add.

What I thought was going to be a very boring hour and a half (yes AN HOUR AND A HALF to learn how to use a frikken handset??) actually turned into a totally hysterical session with us all playing silly buggers and driving the trainer absolutely bonkers.

We sat around a table with our own phone in front of us and got taught how to:

1) Change our ring tones (We can have some fantastic tunes that will drive my colleagues MAD)

2) Access our voicemail

3) How to divert calls/transfer calls/park calls/screen calls

4) How to set up conference calls

The last one really rocks my world. We can create conference calls with 7 other people and those can be internal numbers, external numbers and international numbers.

Do you know what this means?

It means I can have fantastic gossip sessions with my friends on conference calls! We can natter the day away about random crap all together!

I can phone SA and conference in my friends back home! It'll be brilliant! Hysterical! The best time ever!

Do you think I'll get into trouble?

Push those buttons till you can't push no more.

Excessive conferencing would serve them right for making you sit through "phone training"... as if you (or any woman) would need that...?

Oh dear god...you're a hopeless chick...I love it!

Question: I often hear about Saffers phoning home from work...don't these people check up on you or check out their expensive phone bills?!?

Simply put: yes.

@kab - well our offices are absolutely massive and the bill doesn't come through to our production and I've been doing it for a year now so I'm guessing the answer is no ...

Plus our company phones internationally all the time and I've had to phone SA for work reasons so what can they say?

I told my boss the other week I was phoning home but using a special number and he said "why bother just call" and I said "won't they notice?" and he said "I hope not, I've been phoning my parents in Greece for ages now"

So again I guess so.

@leez - Perhaps not hey?

LOL - this is brilliant !

We did get told off at the end of last year for the number of international calls being made on our blackberrys. But i've never tried it. Most of our handsets in the office are barred from international calls unless we ask.

I don't know if you'll get in trouble, but I wish we had a training session for our new phones! Instead we were handed photocopy instructions and the chaos commenced. I would hear people changing their ring tones throughout the day or complain how to use their damn phone.

It sounds like a training session would have been more fun. :)

When I had phone training the chick had HUGE knockers and her shirt hung open in the middle.

I wonder if she noticed me staring?

Maybe it was the drool.
