Hello Miss M speaking

We had some fun and entertaining training today. Turns out that our telephone systems are changing over to some new fancy schmacy handsets and us Production staff need to learn how to use them in order to teach the rest of our teams.

I am not relishing that moment I might add.

What I thought was going to be a very boring hour and a half (yes AN HOUR AND A HALF to learn how to use a frikken handset??) actually turned into a totally hysterical session with us all playing silly buggers and driving the trainer absolutely bonkers.

We sat around a table with our own phone in front of us and got taught how to:

1) Change our ring tones (We can have some fantastic tunes that will drive my colleagues MAD)

2) Access our voicemail

3) How to divert calls/transfer calls/park calls/screen calls

4) How to set up conference calls

The last one really rocks my world. We can create conference calls with 7 other people and those can be internal numbers, external numbers and international numbers.

Do you know what this means?

It means I can have fantastic gossip sessions with my friends on conference calls! We can natter the day away about random crap all together!

I can phone SA and conference in my friends back home! It'll be brilliant! Hysterical! The best time ever!

Do you think I'll get into trouble?

Someone forgot their happy pills ...

I do love catching a Development junkie when they are having an off day.

Usually our conversations go along the line of this:

Miss M: Hey dude, hows work?

Development Junkie: Said in the most upbeat voice you can imagine Absolutely brilliant. We're working on some amazing new shows!

Miss M: Oh really? Good to hear

Development Junkie: They are going to WONDERFUL on TV, the commissioners are going to get their socks knocked off!

This gone on for some time whilst they blow their own horn about how brilliant they are.

Friday was different.

I think I encountered one when he was just having the worst day possible. Or he was disillusioned with his own brilliance

Miss M: Hey dude, how you doing today?

Development Junkie: Monotone voice I'm ok

Miss M: Hows development going? Got any good new shows on the go?

Development Junkie: Some good shit, some bad shit - basically just shit.

Well I wasn't expected THAT!

Good to have someone be honest for a change though isn't it?

The day after The Bank Holiday

Waking up this morning was a trial. My eyes were glued shut and did NOT want to open. The funny thing is that I woke up at 0730 yesterday morning quite easily even though I didn't have to be awake. This morning my alarm went off at 0800 and I just couldn't do it. Do you think it is a mental block towards going to work?

Luckily today is another gorgeous day in London and my view out onto the river Thames was just so enticing that I went and met The Queen of Melodrama for lunch on The South Bank in the sunshine. Beautiful.

Work is work. It plods on slowly. Today was exceptionally boring but lots of stuff to do.

I really do pity those people who think that my job is glamorous. Today is one of those days where it is just a tedious office job. Right now some builders are drilling something into the floor above me and I think that my head is going to explode.

The glamour.

I did find out one thing today that has upset me greatly.

The amazing show I was supposed to be working on this year but got held back as they didn't have a presenter has been brought back! But I can't work on it now as I am contracted to this horribly boring show that I'm working on at the moment.

THE TORTURE!

I so wanted to work on the other show.

It would have been glamorous!

There were famous names linked to it!

Oh well. I'm sure I am not on it for a reason.

Whatever that might be.

I can't be satisfied can I?

Things aren't that exciting at work at the moment.

I got what I wished for - a show - but it isn't the most fulfilling one. I feel like I'm just going through the motions. I can do this job backwards and at the moment it isn't inspiring me.

I have until the end of June on this show but I'm wondering if I can even stick it out until then. It's tedious. Granted I get to start at 10am and actually leave at 6pm which gives me plenty of time to indulge in climbing after work and actually get away for the weekend but I need something more than that.

I want to be so busy I am run off my feet. I like working late and getting things done. I love the urgency of TV. I love the insanity. I thrive on it.

Jailbait got mad at me on Sunday when I told him about a show I want to put myself forward for. It would be a promotion but it would mean working solidly for 3 weeks until midnight without a day as it is a live studio show. For my career it would be amazing. For my social life it would be death.

I guess I'm just bored?

Boredom is a killer

I'm irritated today. What is the point of coming into work when you actually aren't doing anything?

Today I have read some blogs, surfed the internet, visited colleagues on other floors and generally farting about.

They haven't assigned me to a show, I have no boss and most important of all I have no work to do what so ever.

Whilst this might sound like paradise let me tell you it isn't. There really is only so much internet surfing you can do and 9 hours of nothing is mind numbingly boring.

Oh what I wouldn't give to be at home watching Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Or out shopping. Or in a swimming pool being eaten by savage sharks. (yes it is THAT boring)

I even tried to be late this morning. I left the house at 0930am - 35 minutes later than I usually do - and still got to work only 5 minutes late. Yes I know, how strange. I have no idea how I did that. Starting to think I needn't leave till them most days. Tomorrow I might try leaving 45 minutes later than I usual. What you think?

Oh my god I'm bored.

I'm scarred for life

Today was my first day back at work in a month. It was hard getting out of bed.

The alarm clock rings

Miss M: What the fuck is that?

Sits up in a panic and stares around the room

Miss M: Jesus, seriously, make it shut up. Ah crap it's the alarm!

Contemplates throwing her phone against the wall

So after dragging myself up, showering and departing from the house I made it into the office for 945am. Only to be told that the Production Manager I was to help out was in an edit and would only be back in the office round 1130am. So I waited. And messed around. And waited. Even walked 15 minutes in the rain to meet a friend for lunch who then proceeded to decide that he would melt if the rain touched him and he bailed - so I walked the 15 minutes back cursing his name. The weenie. 215pm the Production Manager showed up. Only to tell me he didn't have any work for me to do so perhaps I should watch a copy of the show.

Sits down to watch the documentary

Miss M: Mmmh this looks interesting, she's saying she doesn't want to give birth in a hospital?

Miss M: Hang on, no doctors? No drugs?

Miss M: Oh my god, is that a baby coming out? Dear god no, please zoom out! Seriously, please!!

A very traumitised Miss M finishes the documentary and is now scarred for life by the close up image of babies being pushed out of vaginas.

Miracle of life my ass, that shit shouldn't be shared.

Boredom is an evil tool

Miss M: I'm bored

Miss M's Imaginary Voice: Do some work

Miss M: I don't want to

Miss M's Imaginary Voice: Check your facebook

Miss M: Done that

Miss M's Imaginary Voice: Ponders for a moment I know, why don't you announce to everyone that (insert colleagues name) is shagging (insert other colleagues name)

Miss M: That would be quite cruel wouldn't it?

Miss M's Imaginary Voice: Nods But it would alleviate the boredom wouldn't it?

Miss M: True

Miss M's Imaginary Voice: Plus you've only got 1 day left ...

Miss M: She'd hate me though

Oh but how much fun it would be! Who thinks I should listen to my evil inner voice?

P.S: Jason has returned home and he hasn't called me. He has my number too. I think he's back with his girlfriend. Oh well, it obviously wasn't meant to be.
