My name in lights

There is something about the thrill of seeing my name on television that I never can quite get over. I'm like a little child at Christmas waiting to see it and then bounce happily around the living room afterwards with the joy of receiving that long desired for present.

Last night was no different - I forced my poor housemates to watch with me and then texted about 20 people harping on about how wonderful it was. Actually the show was really good so they should have been watching it to begin with!

It got me to thinking about why I love seeing my name up there so much still. I mean it isn't the first show and it definitely won't be the last, but for some reason I get the same thrill every single time.

Perhaps it is because I still do not consider myself "cool" enough to be working in this industry. I was a total nerd all the way through school - I was not the most liked and in fact I struggled so much to become one of those "in crowd people" that they all just laughed at me. I think that seeing my name on the screen is like 2 fingers up to those super cool, beautiful, popular and well liked people and saying to them:

Who you are in school means jack shit in the real world - look at what I've accomplished and look at what you've managed.

If I could go back and redo it all I would just not care who my friends were for their popularity but more for their actual friendship.

By the way, Jason is just sooooo hot!

Milk every second of glory out of this that you can girlfriend - you worked damn hard and deserve the pleasure!

Nerds are cool too... they just need a few more years to show everyone exactly how much ;-)

Going to google Jason right now....

I will Lopz - it is great, but sometimes I wish that those annoying people from school were here to see it too :P

This thing is driving me nuts. My comments often just don't appear. If this one doesn't I may just bash the screen with my keyboard *eyes keyboard suspiciously*
Now I can't remember all the witty, insightful stuff I wrote in my previous comment so will settle with: Good for you man. Have no clue who Jason is though...
Oh, and it is the year of the geek so if you want to be one, go ahead. (Note geek, not nerd). The airheads are usually pregnant and divorced by 35 anyway...

Okay, I've been reading your blog for a little while now & am just dying to know more about you & the industry...what's the name of the show & would us folk down south know of any of the ones you've been on?

What do you do on the show?!? If I may ask...

Hi Kab

Nice to meet a new reader ;) I'm a Co-ordinator which means I work behind the scenes making sure everything is set up and running smoothly. We're the organisers so we have more of a level head than the creatives.

The only shows I can think of that you guys would know that I've had the joy of working on are Wife Swap and a couple of Jamie Oliver shows.

What would you like to know? I can't write too much about my job as I could get busted but I'll try to fill in more what we do day to day ... but any questions just drop me a line :)

WELL WELL WELL DONE MISS M!!
You're an accomplished person and have very very good reason to feel proud of yourself.
Don't worry, it's usually the nerds, you know the ones people laughed at? It's usually (us) who actually turned out to be worth a f* at the end of the day. Seriously.

Thanks Mrs M :) I'm starting to realise that, I just wish that there was a way to tell all those poor kids who are in school now that; that they really needed worry about the whole popular thing and just to be happy!

I can't wait to have kids and get them to realise that :)

Mrs M - I am definitely broody! But that doesn't mean I'm having any children anytime soon!
